On New Years Eve 2021 a shooting erupted at the famous Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota that injured 2 people. Mall of America is the largest mall in the United States.
There was an altercation between two males prior to the shooting. The altercation boiled over into shots fired and 2 people were shot. The shots sent shoppers running in a panic to exits and nearby stores for cover.
The mall was immediately put on lock down.
Police were on scene moments after the shooting. The 2 shot victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. The mall was secured by police and the lock down was lifted.
No suspects are in custody. The shooter fled the mall upon the shooting.
A planned New Years Eve event at Mall of America has been cancelled due to the shooting.
