On June 26, 2024 an 8-year-old girl died on Tuckaseegee Rd. Charlotte, NC at the Amazon distribution center after being left in a hot car. The girl’s mother Ashlee Stallings, 36, was arrested charged with the death of her daughter.

At 6:30 p.m. on June 26th the 8-year-old girl was left in a vehicle in the parking lot of Amazon on Tuckaseegee Rd. the girl was allegedly left in the car by her mother.
The mother was going to work at Amazon while the girl remained in the car.

The girl was left in the car alone. The heat began to disturb the girl. Nearby standers saw the girl in the car and alerted police officers. The girl was then taken to Wilkinson Blvd.
The girl was found in critical condition. Emergency crews broke into the car and retrieved the girl.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, but she died at the hospital during emergency care.
Homicide Unit detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation and collect physical evidence.

Upon investigation it was determined that the victim was left in a vehicle in hot weather conditions and suffered a medical emergency.
At the conclusion of the investigation, the victim’s mother Ashlee was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse by willful act causing serious injury.
Amazon released this statement:
“This is an incredibly tragic incident. During this difficult time, we’re supporting our employees and have made counseling resources widely available. We’re also working closely with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department as they investigate.”
