A breaking and entering 911 call led to 3 cops being assaulted and hospitalized on October 13, 2023 in Charlotte, NC. One cop was strangled to unconsciousness while 2 other cops were hit in the face and sent to the hospital. At 11:55 a.m., officers responded to a suspicious person breaking and entering call on Spring Park Drive.

Upon arrival, officers encountered a male suspect at a home. The suspect stated that he lived at the home, however, officers were able to determine that the man did not live at the home and had broken into the residence.The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect attempted to retreat inside of the home.
Officers proceeded to follow the suspect into the house. As the officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, a violent confrontation ensued.
Additional units responded to the scene attempting to take the individual into custody. Officers gave multiple commands to the suspect to cease his resistance, however, the suspect failed to comply.
Three officers sustained serious injuries. The suspect pinned a female officer to the ground and began to strangle her unconscious.

A second officer sustained a laceration to his face while a third officer sustained an eye injury. Paramedics transported all three officers to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries sustained during the confrontation. The suspect was arrested on scene and transported to an area hospital as a precaution.
