2-YEAR-OLD CHILD SHOT SELF WITH GUN THAT WAS UNSECURED IN HOUSE

25-year-old Devonte Warren was arrested on April 12, 2020 on a charge of failing to secure a firearm, which resulted in the injury of a two-year-old male child.

Shortly before 6:30 p.m. on August 12, 2020, the child was shot on Camp Greene Street Charlotte, NC.

Family friends were visiting Devonte at a residence. The child found and fired an unsecured firearm, shooting himself. The firearm and additional evidence were collected as evidence. Devonte was found to be the owner of the firearm, officials say. The victim was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Devonte was transferred to the custody of the jail and charged with failure to secure a firearm to protect a minor.
