On July 24, 2021 a 12-year-old child was killed in a shooting at a picnic in Monroe, NC. The deadly shooting was around 8 p.m. on Icemorlee Dr.
Shots were fired at the kid while he/she was sitting with friends on a picnic table. A black SUV drove by and fired several shots before speeding away.
The 12-year-old kid was shot. The child was treated on scene and rushed to Atrium Union Hospital where he/she was pronounced deceased.
Multiple shell casings were found at the scene and there appears to be no other victims.
Monroe Police Chief Bryan Gilliard says:
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of the victim and we need the community to help identify and hold the shooter accountable for what they have done. Someone knows who did this. This was an innocent child and we need people to be brave and step up so we can catch those responsible for this senseless act of violence”
