685 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS FOUND IN SMUGGLING ATTEMPTS

Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents encountered four large groups of undocumented immigrants and disrupted three human smuggling events resulting in over 680 apprehensions. The encounters were in Starr County, Texas from May 2-6, 2022.

The groups totaled 685 noncitizens. The groups consisted of 424 single adults, 190 family members, and 71 unaccompanied children. The illegal immigrants are from Central and South America, Asia, and Caribbean.

All the subjects were determined to be illegally present in the U.S. One illegal migrant was transported to a medical facility for minor injuries and later released.

Border Patrol processed all subjects accordingly.
