LATINO GROUP SOLD KILOGRAMS OF METH AND HEROIN IN THE CHARLOTTE AREA

On December 10, 2019 U.S. District Judge Robert J. Conrad Jr. sentenced several defendants to prison on drug conspiracy charges for their involvement in a narcotics distribution ring operating in Charlotte, NC.

According to federal prosecutors, from 2015 until 2018 the defendants operated a drug conspiracy responsible for trafficking methamphetamine and heroin in Mecklenburg County and surrounding areas.

Over the course of the investigation, law enforcement determined that the conspiracy trafficked hundreds of kilograms of methamphetamine to the greater Charlotte area.

The prison sentences are the culmination of a 10-month investigation into the drug ring. The defendants distributed large quantities of methamphetamine and heroin, federal prosecutors say.

Angelo Mejia, 28, was sentenced to 235 months in prison and five years of supervised release.

Rodolfo Felix Medina, 49, was sentenced to 188 months in prison and five years of supervised release

Julio Cesar Sanchez, 28, was sentenced to 180 months in prison and five years of supervised release.

Emilio Mejia, 30, was sentenced to 168 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

Jose Javier Reyes, 21, was sentenced to 78 months in prison and five years of supervised release.

Mauco Contreras, 22, was sentenced to 72 months in prison and two years of supervised release.

Alejandro Jose Lopez Ceballos, 20, was sentenced to 60 months in prison and two years of supervised release.

Kevin Eliezer Velasquez Melendez, 23, of Concord, N.C., was sentenced to 46 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

Edgar Jesus Magana, 26, was sentenced to 41 months in prison and two years of supervised release.

Martha Olivia Placencia Beltran, 39, was sentenced to 14 months in prison

Alejandro Jose Lopez Ceballos, 20, is not pictured but was sentenced to 60 months in prison and two years of supervised release.
