COP DIES FROM FENTANYL OVERDOSE, FOUND DEAD AT HOME

Officer De’Jon Packer, 24, with the San Jose Police Department died from a fentanyl overdose, according to an April 29, 2022 medical examiner report. De’Jon played football at San Jose State University prior to becoming a cop.

De’jon died on March 13, 2022 in Milpitas, California. De’jon was at a party with fellow police officers the night before he died.

Officers were sent to De’jon’s home for a welfare check after family and friends grew concerned on March 13th. De’jon was found dead on the floor in the home. There were no signs of trauma or foul play.

After nearly 2 months, the medical examiner finally released fentanyl toxicity overdose as the cause of death for De’jon. Fentanyl is responsible for the deaths of over 100,000 people in the USA.

De’jon played running back at San Jose State University from 2017 to 2019; he scored 11 touchdowns. 

San Jose police Chief Anthony Mata had this to say concerning De’jon’s overdose death:

“This behavior is not something we condone, and we will continue to assist with the investigation. We need to be mindful of the fact that we are not immune to issues that plague society, in this case substance abuse. As humans we are not perfect, and mistakes will be made.”
