$809,000 WORTH OF COCAINE FOUND DURING DRUG BUST

Cocaine with a street value of $809,710 was seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection during 2 enforcement actions. 

The first seizure took place on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville, Texas when a 29-year-old female United States citizen applied for entry into the United States driving a 2012 Volkswagen. 

The vehicle was referred to secondary for further examination. In secondary, with the aid of a canine unit, officers discovered 15 packages hidden within the vehicle. Officers removed the packages, which contained a total of 35.25 pounds of cocaine.

The second seizure took place on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Veterans International Bridge in Brownsville, Texas when a 27-year-old male driving a Freightliner truck approached the border checkpoint. 

In the truck, there were 29 packages of cocaine hidden. The packages of cocaine weighed a total of 69.75 pounds. 

The estimated street value of the narcotics from the seizures are approximately $271,830 and $537,880 respectively.

Officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicles, arrested the drivers and turned them over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
