U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations at the Pharr International Bridge in Texas intercepted $2,305,000 worth of methamphetamine that was being smuggled from Mexico.
Officers working at the Pharr International Bridge on Oct. 27, 2019 encountered a 59-year-old male Mexican citizen from Reynosa, Tamaulipas driving a green Ford F-150 pickup truck arriving from Mexico.
A officer referred the man and truck for further inspection, which resulted in the discovery of 24 packages of methamphetamine concealed within the tires. Non-intrusive imaging equipment was used to locate the drugs, which weighed 115.25 pounds.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized the methamphetamine, the pickup and arrested the Reynosa resident, subsequently releasing him to the custody of agents with Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation.
