$1.3 MILLION IN COCAINE FOUND IN BAG AT JFK AIRPORT IN NEW YORK

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), officers assigned to John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport seized over $1.3 million in cocaine on the eve of Thanksgiving.

The seizure occurred on Wednesday, November 21 when airport customs agents examined a suitcase that arrived from Quito, Ecuador.  The examination of the suitcase resulted in the discovery of 38 brick like packages containing over 100 pounds of cocaine. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $1.3 million.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and turned them over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Port Authority Police Department (PAPD) for further investigation. No arrests have been made.

> “This seizure is another example of CBP officers being vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of dangerous drugs,”

said Troy Miller, Director of CBP’s New York Field Office.
