SUSPECT CHARGED WITH MURDERING MAN IN WEST CHARLOTTE MOTEL ROOM

On April 16, 2021, Dontarius Long, 21, was arrested and charged with the murder of Jurkeith Peterson, 29. Dontarius has a tattoo on his chest that has a being in a trash can that says “WHOS NEXT”

Jurkeith was found dead in a Charlotte, NC motel room on Easter Sunday April 4, 2021. In the afternoon hours officers responded to a welfare check 911 call at a motel located on Queen City Drive. Upon arrival, officers found Jurkeith in one of the rooms. Medic responded to the scene and pronounced Jurkeith deceased.

Dontarius is charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The investigation and arrest was a collaborative effort by detectives with the Homicide Unit, Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, Armed Robbery Unit, Real-Time Crime Center, Crime Scene Search, Crime Analysis Division, and Crime Laboratory. The FBI also assisted.
