WOMAN CHARGED WITH KILLING BOY IN HIT AND RUN WRECK

Kevin Osorto, 14, was killed in a hit and run vehicle collision in Charlotte, NC. On June 28, 2021 Tamika Powell, 35, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.  

On June 27, 2021 Kevin was hit by a vehicle around 2 in the morning as he was walking on East WT Harris Boulevard when a Chevrolet Equinox vehicle struck him. The vehicle sustained mild damage and left the scene, making the case a hit and run.

The crash killed Kevin, as he died near instantly.   

On June 28, 2021, officers located a Chevrolet Equinox parked in a gravel driveway at a residence. Officers observed damages to the vehicle that matched the damages similar to the collision that killed Kevin. 

As a result of continued investigation, warrants were obtained for Tamika, where she was then arrested and charged with felony hit and run, and involuntary manslaughter.
