On July 12, 2021 three people were killed on US 601 in Salisbury, NC during a head on collision between 2 vehicles.
The wreck was just after noon. A Ford vehicle was traveling on US 601 when it passed another vehicle in a no-pass zone. During the passing attempt the Ford crossed the double yellow line and struck a Dodge vehicle head-on.
The wreck caused extensive damage to both vehicles. The driver of the Ford and Dodge died on scene. A passenger in the Dodge later died at the hospital.
The head on collision caused portions of US-601 to be closed for hours.
