MAN ROBS CIRCLE K CONVENIENCE STORE AND GETS 10 YEARS IN PRISON

James Massey, 27, was sentenced to 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release on August 13, 2021 in Charlotte, NC. 

James robbed a Circle K convenience store on August 24, 2020, at approximately 4:04 a.m. James robbed the Circle K store located at 4801 Central Avenue. 

A store employee saw James standing outside and unlocked the front door, thinking that James was a customer. 

James entered the store brandishing a semi-automatic handgun, pointed the firearm at the store employee and ordered him to hand over cash from the register. James threatened to shoot the employee and a store vendor if the employee did not comply. 

The employee handed James $70 from the cash register and James fled the scene on foot. Two Crime Stopper tips identified James as the suspect. 

Following an investigation, law enforcement arrested James in connection with the robbery of the convenience store. 

On April 16, 2021, James pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act Robbery and Hobbs Act Robbery.
