21-year-old Cierra Dyer stabbed her own 1-year-old daughter in Greenville, NC on October 11, 2021. The baby had to be hospitalized.
Police were called to an apartment because Cierra was in a dispute with a family member over custody of the baby.
Officers encountered Cierra arguing with the family member. An officer followed Cierra to the kitchen of the house and observed her actively stabbing her 1-year-old baby daughter in the back with a knife.
The officer confronted Cierra and she threw the knife on the floor and was immediately arrested. The baby’s stab wounds were to the back.
EMT rushed the baby to Vidant Medical Center for emergency treatment. The baby is expected to make a full recovery. As for the mother Cierra, she is charged with attempted murder and felony child abuse.
