MAN’S KILLING JUSTIFIED, SHOOTER WALKS FREE

On December 14, 2021 the decision was made not to charge anyone in the shooting death of Detreye Walker, 48. The shooting was on December 2, 2021 in Charlotte, NC. Detreye was shot and killed at the intersection of Lawyers Road and WT. Harris Blvd.

Detreye was shot around 6 p.m. He died on the scene. 

Detectives have classified this case as a justified homicide. The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office has reviewed the case and concurs with the detectives’ decision not to charge anyone in this case. 

The decision not to charge anyone after a deadly shooting has been common in Charlotte. 

No charges were filed after college basketball star Eric Howell, 29, was shot and killed. 

Jonquil Thompson was killed, the shooter walked free after district attorneys choose not to file charges.

Tulvel McDougald, 27, was killed by a man in a shooting during a domestic disturbance, the shooting was ruled justified.

16-year-old Vontairius Doster’s death was ruled as a justified homicide.

No charges were filed after a man was shot and killed during NBA All-Star Weekend 2019 in Charlotte.
