1 KILLED AND 3 INJURED DURING WRECK ON INDEPENDENCE BLVD. NEAR I-485

On December 23, 2021 one person was killed in a huge car accident on Independence Blvd. near Interstate 485 in Matthews, NC. 3 other people were seriously injured in the wreck. 

A total of 7 vehicles were involved in the massive wreck. The road was shut down for several hours due to the wreck. Traffic was backed up for hours, delaying holiday shopping and plans for people. 

A collision occured and one person died on the scene. 3 people were hurt and were taken to Novant Health Presbyterian and Atrium Health Hospitals. 7 vehicles were in the wreck. 

Many of the vehicles were left mangled and twisted. There are no specifics on how the crash transpired. 

Interstate-77 was backed up for hours after a man jumped off an overpass and killed himself. 

Charlotte cop Mia Goodwin was killed in a 7 car pile up on Interstate 85 in Charlotte.
