Edis Serrano-Perez, 19, is charged with the murder of Santos Maldonado, 48, in Charlotte, NC. Edis was arrested on March 23, 2022.
On March 19, 2022, cops responded to a check welfare call on East WT Harris Boulevard; Santos had been physically assaulted and was transported to the hospital.
Edis allegedly got into a dispute with Santos and punched and kicked him in the head, authorities say.
On March 21, 2022, the condition of Santos deteriorated and he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. A murder arrest warrant was obtained for Edis and he was arrested.
