31-year-old Raheem Diaz is charged with the death of William Mitchell, 48, during an deadly hit and run collision on Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC.
August 21, 2022, at approximately 1:08 a.m. William was killed during a crash.
Raheem was driving a Volkswagen vehicle on Freedom Drive allegedly in the wrong way of traffic lanes. The Volkswagen struck a van and then continued driving at a high rate of speed away from the scene.
The Volkswagen then struck the Nissan car that William was driving. The Nissan, after impact, traveled off the roadway, struck a utility pole, and then struck a tree.
The Volkswagen flipped upside down. Raheem is accused of then exiting the Volkswagen and fleeing the scene on foot. William was found by cops unconscious and not responsive. Medical professionals arrived and pronounced William deceased on scene.
Raheem turned himself in hours later and was charged with involuntary manslaughter, felony hit and run, misdemeanor hit and run, and reckless driving.
