On October 12, 2022 Jamontey Neal, 32, was shot and killed by police in Decatur, Illinois. Jamontey shot 2 cops in the face during the shooting.
At 12:30 am, officers conducted a traffic stop on Jamontey in the rain after getting a tip that he was in possession of a firearm.
During the stop, Jamontey fired at the officers, shooting and wounding two of the officers. The cops were shot in the face and in other areas of the body.
Officers returned fire, shooting Jamontey. Paramedics arrived on scene and took Jamontey to the hospital.
Jamontey later died at the hospital. The shot officers were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries, they are in critical care.
This incident is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
