MAN KILLED BY POLICE IN UPTOWN CHARLOTTE SHOOTING

Nicholas Lopez, 44, was shot and killed by police on October 4, 2023 in uptown Charlotte, NC. Nicholas was shot on Frazier Avenue. This is the second cop to kill a man in uptown within weeks.

At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call. Upon arrival, an officer encountered Nicholas who matched the description of the armed suspect.

Nicholas had reportedly fired shots before police arrived. Once cops arrived, Nicholas began walking away from cops.  Yet, a police officer shot Nicholas multiple times. The officer was not injured. Nicholas was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. A firearm was recovered on scene.
