32-year-old Zachary Yates was shot by cops and critically injured during a confrontation at apartments in Denver, Colorado on November 27, 2023.
Officers were initially drawn to Zachary because loud music was emanating from inside his truck. As cops approached they noticed Zachary had a gun in the back waist band of his pants.
Cops pointed guns at Zachary and told him to put his hands up. Zachary complies for a few minutes and mentions that he is a military veteran that is suicidal.
Zachary then puts one hand behind his back and cops shoot him multiple times. Zach was seriously injured, but survived.
Zachary was charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm – a 9 mm Glock 17 handgun.
