Another Ukrainian woman has been murdered in North Carolina, this time on Valentine’s Day in a double murder. Kateryna Tovmash was escaping the Russian invasion of Ukraine
Kateryna Tovmash, 21, is from Ukraine, she was killed in a double homicide along with her boyfriend Matthew Wade, 28, on Valentine’s Day February 14, 2026. Kateryna’s ex-boyfriend 25-year-old Caleb Fosnaugh is accused of killing the couple in Vass, NC. This marks the second time in six months that a Ukrainian woman was murdered in North Carolina; video shows Iryna Zarutska being murdered on a train in Charlotte, NC.
Kateryna moved to the United States two years ago to escape war torn Ukraine. Kateryna began dating Caleb, but they eventually broke up. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
Kateryna then began dating Fort Bragg soldier Matthew Wade, he was in the Army. They lived in Vass, NC at a home. On Valentine’s Day 2026 Caleb is accused of breaking into Kateryna’s home, going to a bedroom and shooting Kateryna dead while she was in bed with Matthew.
Caleb is accused of shooting Matthew dead also. The suspect left the scene but was arrested 400 miles away on February 15, 2026 in Coshocton County, Ohio charged with double murder.
Iryna Zarutska, 23, was stabbed to death in August 2025 in Charlotte, NC on a light rail train.
