Highway Patrol troopers were chasing a man when he crashed into the victim’s Cadillac
40-year-old Calvin Costner was killed in a hit and run crash on George Liles Parkway and Interstate 85 in Concord, NC on November 24, 2025. Charlotte Alerts is on Instagram.
At 11 p.m. a suspect was being pursued by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol in a high speed chase.
Troopers say they spotted a speeding driver traveling at 111 mph on Interstate 85 and pulled him over for a traffic stop.
While speaking with the driver, the trooper noticed signs of impairment. The suspect driver then fled the traffic stop, state troopers chased him.
The suspect exited onto George Liles Boulevard, ran a red light, and collided with a Cadillac being driven by Calvin. The Cadillac caught fire after the impact.
Calvin was pulled from the vehicle but died on scene, he was burned alive. The suspect fled on foot and got away.
