$1 MILLION IN MARIJUANA SEIZED BY BORDER PATROL

Date:

U.S. Border Patrol agents prevented a narcotic smuggling load from entering the United States. Border Patrol agents seized $1 million in marijuana (Seen here) over the weekend.

On Saturday evening, Aug. 11, 2018 agents working near Fronton, Texas, observed a Chevrolet Suburban traveling alongside the Rio Grande river without its lights on. Mobile units responded and located the Suburban abandoned near a river road.

Agents searched the immediate area and witnessed several people jump into the Rio Grande river, swimming back to Mexico.

Inside the abandoned Suburban, agents discovered 137 bundles of marijuana weighing over 1,300 pounds and worth an estimated $1 million. U.S. law enforcement doesn’t have the jurisdiction to make arrest in Mexico; drug cartels know this and often run to Mexico to avoid arrest.
