MURDER DURING 2019 NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND SOLVED, OCCURRED NEAR ONYX STRIP CLUB

The 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend was a violent weekend for Charlotte, NC. 3 men were killed during the star studded event.

Nicholas Beatty, 32, is charged in the murder of 28-year-old Ervin Steward.

Ervin was shot and killed near Onyx strip club on Minuet Lane on February 17 in Charlotte around 1:30am. After the shots rang out, a friend of Ervin drove him a few blocks away from the scene to Seventy Seven Center Drive. Paramedics arrived and transported Ervin to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. 

Information and evidence gathered by homicide detectives during the course of the investigation led them in identifying Nicholas as the suspect in this case and obtained warrants for his arrest. Detectives requested the assistance of the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team in locating Nicholas. 

Earlier today, detectives were assisted by the State Bureau of Investigation and the City of Durham Police Department in locating Nicholas in Durham, North Carolina. Nicholas was charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
