Dequavious Hopper, 17, and Jaelyn Abraham, 16, were killed in a truck accident in front of their high school on September 18, 2024. The boys both attended Burns High School in Lawndale, NC.
Dequavious was in a Ford Focus car with Jaelyn and X’zavier Sanders, 16. It is not clear who was driving. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.
The Ford Focus crashed head on into a Ford F450 truck. The car was completely crushed from the impact.
Dequavious and Jaelyn died on the scene. The driver of the truck and occupants were injured but survived.
X’zavier sustained extensive brain injuries and was rushed to the hospital. X’zavier is now in stable condition, but he does not remember the crash.
Police say the Ford Focus failed to yield and drove into the truck. Dequavious and Jaelyn were family members.
