On Halloween 2019 Border Patrol agents patrolling near Nogales, AZ apprehended Ramon Romano-Ortega, 44. Ramon is a Mexican national illegally present in the United States.
Checks revealed Ramon was convicted of sexual abuse in the 3rd degree and criminal possession of a loaded firearm in 2014 in New York. A registered sex offender, Ramon also has multiple felony weapon violations. He was last deported from the United States in 2014.
Ramon will face federal prosecution for immigration violations.
All persons apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal immigrants with criminal histories are positively identified.
