A fatal collision involving a train left a man dead in Charlotte, NC. Officials say, Codey Humphreys, 25, was killed when a train hit him on February 1, 2020 at 7:20 pm.
Codey’s truck got stuck in the mud after he had driven it on the grass between the tracks near the intersection of Old Concord Road and John Kirk Drive officials say. Codey called a friend for assistance and began walking north between the track’s rails when he was struck by a northbound train.
Officers responded to an attempt to locate call for service reporting a person being on the railroad tracks.
When they arrived, they located an unresponsive Codey who was pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives with the CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit, officers from the DWI Task Force, Norfolk Southern Police and Crime Scene Search responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.
The CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit is working with Norfolk Southern Railroad Police Investigators to determine the exact train that struck Codey.
