CHARLOTTE COP TURNED ATF SPECIAL AGENT SHOT AND KILLED IN HAWAII

Hawaii based federal agent John Bost died on July 28, 2020 after he was accidentally shot in the line of duty, according to the ATF. John was a special agent with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, he was assigned to Maui County and he worked closely with the Maui Police Department.

John use to work as a police officer in Charlotte, NC from 2000 until he got the ATF Hawaii job in 2005. Hawaii police say John died from a wound received from an accidental discharge of a rifle at the Kihei Police Station in Kihei, Hawaii.

There is no indication as to who fired the rifle or what the pretenses are that led to the deadly shooting.

In a joint statement the ATF and Maui Police Department said:

“John will be remembered as an outstanding special agent, greatly admired and respected by all who knew him. He was deeply committed to ATF’s mission of safeguarding our communities from violent criminals, and will be profoundly missed.”
