MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER AFTER VICTIM DIES IN CAR ACCIDENT

On September 16, 2020 Shamari Pinkney, 20, was released from the hospital and arrested in connection with a deadly wreck that killed Antonio Bennett, 30, on West Blvd. Charlotte, NC. 34-year-old Michael Bennett was seriously hurt in the accident.

Shamari is charged with 2nd Degree Murder, DWI, and DWI Felony Serious Injury.

The deadly wreck was on September 5, 2020 near the West Blvd and Remount Road intersection. Shamari was driving a Lexus vehicle and allegedly crossed the double yellow center dividing line, hitting another vehicle. Shamari was allegedly driving at a speed of around 100 mph.

Shamari, Antonio, and Michael were all occupants in the Lexus and were transported by ambulance to Atrium Health Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, Antonio was pronounced deceased. Michael was seriously injured along with Shamari.
