TEENAGE GIRL CONVICTED OF KILLING POLICE OFFICER IN TENNESSEE

On September 9, 2020 Jayona Brown, 18, was sentenced to 6 years in prison and 6 years probation for killing a police officer identified as John Anderson in Nashville, Tennessee. In July 2019 Officer Anderson was responding to a call around 3 a.m. Jayona ran a red light and slammed her vehicle into his patrol car.

Anderson’s patrol vehicle caught fire and the officer was killed. Jayona was 17 at the time of the crash. Juvenile court had transferred the charges to adult court.

Jayona was convicted of vehicular homicide, reckless conduct, aggravated assault, intentional/knowing with serious bodily injury, evading arrest by motor vehicle with risk of injury, and driving while on a suspended driver license.
