MAN’S MURDER RULED JUSTIFIED, NO CHARGES FOR SHOOTER

Date:

On January 12, 2021 the decision was made by top prosecutors to let a person walk free after killing 35-year-old Jonquil Thompson.

Jonquil was shot and killed on October, 3 2020 on Conway Avenue Charlotte, NC. Detectives with the homicide unit classified this case as a justified homicide. The Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office have reviewed the case and made the decision not to charge anyone in this case.

Jonquil was shot shortly before 2:05 a.m., on October 3, 2020. Officers responded to reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they located Jonquil with an apparent gunshot wound in the parking lot. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

This is the second time within a month that Charlotte police and the District Attorney’s Office have decided to not press charges in a murder investigation. 16-year-old Vontairius Doster was killed in a shooting in July 2020. But on December 31, 2020 no charges were pressed on the person that shot Vontairius.
