Helen Martin, 40, was killed in a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Nations Ford Road Charlotte, NC near I-77.
Shortly before 11:10 p.m. on April 27, 2021, officers responded to reports of a car accident where a Lexus GS350 and a pedestrian had been involved.
The preliminary investigation indicates the Lexus was travelling eastbound on Nations Ford Road when Helen was allegedly walking in the roadway and outside of a crosswalk.
Police say Helen then stepped in front of the Lexus. The driver of the vehicle was unable to stop before striking Helen. The driver of the Lexus immediately called 911 following the collision.
Helen was transported by medics to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Speed and impairment are not believed to be contributing factors to the collision on the part of the driver.
