FEDERAL AGENTS STOP IMMIGRATION SMUGGLING ATTEMPT

Date:

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents foiled a migrant smuggling attempt Thursday morning April 29, 2021. The illegal immigrants were hiding in the trunk of the vehicle.

Agents assigned to highway operations conducted a vehicle stop on a Ford Edge in Yuma, AZ.

Agents discovered two U.S. citizens, the driver and front passenger, and five migrants, three of whom were hiding in the rear cargo area. Agents arrested the 36-year-old male driver and 19-year-old male passenger, both of Palmdale, California.

The illegal immigrants, four males and one female, were also arrested. All suspects were transported to a Border Patrol processing station.

Three of the illegal immigrants had previously been removed from the United States and could face re-entry charges.
