Desperate for a chance in the United States, undocumented immigrants tried a smuggling attempt in a gas truck
During Memorial Day weekend 2021 U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended 50 undocumented individuals during a human smuggling attempt in Laredo, Texas on a gas tanker truck.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on May 28, 2021 when a truck hauling a tanker trailer approached a border checkpoint. During primary inspection, a service canine alerted to the conveyance and agents referred it to secondary inspection.
A non-intrusive scan revealed over 50 individuals inside the gas tanker. All were in the U.S. illegally and nationals of Mexico. The driver, a U.S. citizen, and the individuals were taken into custody by U.S Border Patrol.
