MAN ROBS CHARLOTTE CASINO, SENTENCED TO 7 YEARS

Date:

Antonio Gaines, 29, robbed a casino in Charlotte, NC. Prosecutors figuratively pounced on Antonio after evidence was presented at his trial. Antonio caved and plead guilty to robbery with a dangerous weapon; he was sentenced to 85-114 months in prison.

In August 2017, Antonio entered a casino business, approached the clerk, produced a weapon and demanded money from the safe and register. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police circulated photos from surveillance footage of the robbery and received several leads, allowing police to develop Antonio as a suspect. The victim was shown a photographic lineup and identified Antonio with 100 percent certainty, stating she would never forget his face.

Investigators say Antonio was also responsible for robberies at the Arcade Room on N. Tryon Street and the SBL Business Center on S. Tryon Street.
