WOMAN GETS 3 YEARS PROBATION FOR KILLING 2 IN DWI CRASH, PLED GUILTY

Kenya Harris, 26, made a guilty plea after her friends Onjenay Porter, 25, and David Coleman, 32, were killed in a vehicle collision on Freedom Drive Charlotte, NC. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

The fatal collision was on January 4, 2022 at 5 a.m. Kenya was driving a vehicle drunk with David and Onjenay as the passengers. Kenya was attempting to turn and ended up turning directly in front of another moving vehicle.

Both vehicles collided with each other. The impact knocked Kenya’s vehicle off the road. Onjenay and David died on impact.

Kenya was badly injured in the wreck along with the driver of the second car. After hospital treatment, Kenya was arrested charged with felony death by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, and DWI.  

Before trial Kenya pled guilty to a lesser offense in a deal with prosecutors. Now Kenya must take alcohol treatment classes. Kenya also has to speak once per year about the dangers of drinking and driving at Myers Park High School, Harding High School, or Mallard Creek High School. 

Kenya’s driver’s license will also be suspended for a year or more. Lastly Kenya was sentenced to 3 years probation. Onjenay leaves behind 2 young children.
