36-year-old Marla Sadowski was drinking and driving when she killed Larry Morrow, 64, in a dangerous car crash.
On Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 4:39 a.m., a two vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Eastway Drive and Central Avenue in Charlotte, NC.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the Subaru, operated by Sadowski, was traveling north on Eastway Drive in the right hand lane of travel. As the Subaru approached the intersection of Central Avenue, a steady red light was showing on the traffic control lights for the Subaru’s lane of travel.
The Subaru entered the intersection with the steady red light and struck the Chevrolet, operated by Morrow, in the left driver’s side door.
At the time of the crash, the Chevrolet was traveling west in the left hand lane of travel of Central Ave with a steady green light. After the Subaru struck the Chevrolet, the Chevrolet rotated clockwise away from the Subaru into the south bound lanes of travel of Eastway Drive and came to a final resting position on the shoulder of the roadway.
The Subaru continued out of control further north on Eastway Drive and came to a final resting position in the north bound lanes of Eastway Drive.
Sadowski was admitted to the hospital for minor injuries.
During the investigation it was determined that Sadowski was impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages prior to operating the Subaru.
Once Sadowski was released from the hospital she was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder and Driving While Impaired.
Speed and alcohol are contributing factors in this crash. Both Sadowski and Morrow were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
