WOMAN CHARGED AFTER MOTORCYCLE WRECK KILLS MAN

Date:

54-year-old Linda Caldwell was charged with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle and Failure to Yield the Right of Way after a motorcycle accident killed a man riding on a Harley Davidson.

The victim is identified as 60-year-old Cerveria Stanton.

On Monday, May 4, 2020, at 11:12 a.m., officers responded to a vehicle crash with injury on South Boulevard Charlotte, NC.

Upon arrival, officers arrived to find a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle and 2015 Nissan Altima. The motorcycle had front-end damage, and the Nissan Altima had right-side damage. The driver of the Harley Davidson was transported to Atrium Health – Carolina’s Medical Center Main with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Harley Davidson was pronounced deceased at Atrium Health.

The preliminary investigation revealed the Harley Davidson was traveling north on South Boulevard in the left lane. The Nissan Altima was traveling south on South Boulevard, attempting to turn left from the center lane into the parking lot of 1625 South Boulevard.

Officials say while making the left turn, the Nissan Altima crossed into the path of the Harley Davidson, causing the Harley Davidson to strike the passenger side of the Nissan Altima. The impact that occurred caused the driver of the Harley Davidson to be thrown from the motorcycle.

Evidence gathered at the scene indicates that the alleged failure to yield the right of way by the Nissan Altima was the contributing factor of this crash. The driver of the Nissan Altima, Linda Caldwell, was placed under arrest for Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle and issued a citation for Failure to Yield the Right of Way. Major Crash Detectives interviewed her at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Headquarters.
