Two Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies sustained serious injuries on the morning of November 9, 2023 in Brandon, FL after being ran over allegedly by Ralph Bouzy, 28.
Corporal Carlos Brito, 39, and Deputy Manuel Santos, 31, are the injured officers.
Cops were responding to a call for service on Nov. 9th. at 8 a.m. regarding a woman stating that she was in fear of her son, who was behaving violently at their home.
When the deputies arrived, they came into contact with Ralph who was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in the driveway of his home.
Deputies tried to make contact with Ralph, but Ralph refused to speak to them and drove away.
A few minutes later Ralph returned to the scene. Cops say he deliberately ambushed the deputies there by accelerating his vehicle and running over Officers Carlos and Manuel.
One deputy was able to jump out of the way.
Two other deputies encountered Ralph after he exited his vehicle. After he refused law enforcement commands, a taser was deployed hitting Ralph; he was arrested charged with attempted murder on a law enforcement officer.
Sheriff Chad Chronister says:
“There is no other way to describe this other than an ambush. Our deputies put their lives on the line every day to protect this community and what happened today makes me absolutely sick.”
The two deputies that were hit both sustained serious, and are receiving treatment at Tampa General Hospital.
