An inmate is seen on video attacking a cop at the Monroe County Jail in Rochester, NY.
The assault happened in July 2019. Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office were escorting an incarcerated individual to the shower.
The inmate was in solitary confinement at the jail, but was getting his daily shower at the time of the attack. As the deputy was escorting the inmate to the jail showers, the inmate launched back and punched the cop in the face.
The cop was knocked to the ground by the force of the punch. Another cop then came to physically subdue the inmate.
More guards joined in on restraining the inmate, but the inmate was able to put one of the jail guards in a choke hold.
The inmate was eventually subdued and handcuffed. He was arrested again and charged with assault on a jail guard.
