Video: The suspect is now pictured, he is from Florida, he killed 2 people and then was killed in shootout with cops
A newly obtained arrest photo shows 28-year-old Joseph Andrade the man that murdered 2 men identified as Shabazz Grant, 34, and Justin Carlton, 38, in Charlotte, NC on Hoskins Rd. The double murder was on October 23, 2025. Shabazz was an Amazon employee and worked for Lyft ride share service. Shabazz was murdered on the job while picking a passenger up for Lyft. Joseph was killed by police after a high speed chase.
Joseph knocks on a random person’s door, as caught on doorbell camera in the afternoon. Shabazz was picking up a Lyft passenger when out of no where Joseph started shooting, Shabazz was shot. Follow Charlotte Alerts on Instagram.

Justin was feet away and was shot also. Justin died on scene. Joseph then stole Shabazz’s car and wrecked. The suspect then broke into a married woman’s home and kidnapped her, taking her car keys and forcing her into her own vehicle.
Joseph drove away in the vehicle with the terrified woman inside. Cops were called by witnesses and given a description. Police tried to pull Joseph over but he continued speeding down the road. Joseph even shot at cops during the chase, police vehicles were damaged and some could not continue the chase.
The suspect shortly wrecked the vehicle and ran away. Joseph shot at police several times while on foot, but with great sadness he missed. Police shot back and killed Joseph.
The kidnapped female victim was not shot and is okay, but she is still very shaken up and scared.
Shabazz was taken to the hospital for emergency procedures and surgery. Shabazz died on October 26, 2025 days after the original shooting. Shabazz was a father of four with another child on the way.
Joseph did not know the victims and was having a mental health episode, he had schizophrenia. Lyft has not yet released a statement regarding Shabazz’s murder, but here is more Lyft news, as violence occurs often on Lyft rides.
