New Jersey Councilwoman-at-large Amy DeGise is charged with leaving the scene of an accident. On July 19, 2022 Andrew Black, 31, was riding a bike in the street against a red light in New Jersey.
Councilwoman Amy is seen driving an SUV, she had the green light and drove through the intersection at the same time Andrew was riding through the intersection.
Amy’s SUV hits Andrew, flipping him into the air and knocking him off of his bike. Andrew’s shoes were knocked off also.
Amy is seen continuing to drive without stopping. Andrew is seen limping to the sidewalk were witnesses assist him. Andrew had a few scrapes and bruises. Amy was charged hours after the encounter.
Concilwoman Amy’s officer released this statement:
“Amy recognizes the calls that have been made for additional information and transparency. She would very much like to address this situation more comprehensively, but there is a legal process that must play out first and she will not be making any additional public comment at this time.”
