VICTIM FOUND DEAD IN LAKE WYLIE DURING POLICE PURSUIT

Steve Ibarra, 35, died on January 18, 2025 in Lake Wylie in Charlotte, NC on Windy Grove Road after a police chase.

At 12:30 a.m. Steve was driving a vehicle, officers attempted a traffic stop on Steve at Walkers Ferry Road. 

Steve did not stop and fled from officers at a high rate of speed. Officers did not pursue the vehicle but located it a short distance later on Windy Grove Road. 

While officers were conducting their investigation, they located Steve yelling for help in Lake Wylie. Cops rescued Steve from the lake and began life saving efforts. Sadly Steve was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
