On January 26, 2021 George Hargrove, 30, was sentenced to 17 ½ years in prison on child pornography charges in Charlotte, NC.
In June 2018 the FBI determined that George was using an online file sharing network to exchange child pornography with another user. In October 2018, the FBI executed a search warrant at George’s residence and seized his laptop and other devices.
A forensic examination of the seized items revealed that George possessed hundreds of images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of minors, including prepubescent children.
George was arrested on state offenses. In April 2019 George was indicted on federal child pornography charges and was released on pretrial probation. Even during his probation, U.S. probation officers discovered that George was using the internet to contact a 14-year-old girl.
The suspect knew the age of the minor girl and continued communicating with her online while he was on pretrial release. George pleaded guilty to possession, distribution and attempted receipt of child pornography.
