On August 17, 2021 James McIlwaine, 29, was charged with the Charlotte, NC murder of Samuel Stitt, 23, in the Hidden Valley area.
Samuel was shot inside an apartment, and died on the scene. Samuel is a former student of Rocky River High School in Mint Hill, NC.
Over 2 years later the suspect was arrested. At the time of Mcllwaine’s arrest, he was already in jail for other non-related charges. Per the homicide investigation, Mcllwaine will now be charged with murder, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
