John Copeland, 55, is charged with the murder of 29-year-old Mario Witherspoon.
On October 24, 2019 Mario was killed on Rush Wind Drive Charlotte, NC. Mario was shot in the back yard of a home.
As a result of continued investigation, John was identified as a suspect in this case, and warrants were issued for his arrest. On November 11, 2019, John was located and arrested in Newark, New Jersey, following a multi-agency effort.
John will ultimately be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, pending his extradition.
