24-year-old George Winston was arrested on January 30, 2021 and charged with the murder of Cedric Kirkland, 28. The victim was shot and killed on January 29, 2021 while he was driving on Lasalle Street Charlotte, NC.
Several shots were fired at Cedric and he was hit several times while he was operating a SUV. After being shot Cedric drove off the roadway and struck a tree. Cedric was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics.
Detectives identified a vehicle of interest and coordinated with patrol officers across Charlotte to search for the vehicle.
Officers in the North Tryon Division were able to locate the vehicle which led to detectives conducting several interviews.
At the conclusion of the interviews, George was identified as a suspect, arrested, and transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Jail where he was charged with murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
